Dan Patrick was born the seventh child of Murl and Bernie Patrick of White, SD. His roots are sewn deep with in the farm/ranch where he grew up Northeast of White, SD. This background gave Patrick an appreciation for the hard work and dedication that it takes to make a living by growing crops and livestock. "There's much to be said about the country way of living and the values you learn" says Patrick.

From birth on, Patrick was exposed to country music. His father Murl has played the guitar and sang since his youth. "I'm sure the guitar has pulled my dad through lot of pretty tough times" Patrick said. "I've seen pictures of dad playing his guitar in the army where he met one of his biggest influences,

Marty Robbins." Throughout the years his father has played and sang for people from all corners of the U.S. and even people from other countries. To this day , he still greatly enjoys his music and has played with many musicians either by himself or with his band The Country Cousins. It was with the Country Cousins that Dan Patrick got his first taste of the entertainment industry.

"I remember when I got my first snare drum. I was sitting in my room upstairs which I shared with my brother Dale at the time and Dad came up which was rare. He had brought his guitar along and started singing a song and teaching me how to keep a beat." Patrick says he never took any lessons on the drum set.

"After taking some snare lessons, the rest just seemed to fall into place." The Country Cousins provided a vehicle of knowledge into country music and helped Patrick earn his way through college. Patrick's business admin. and economics degree too him out of state for some twelve years before fate would have him back near his roots in Brookings, SD where he currently resides. "All things happen for a reason" says Patrick. By now the Country Cousins had obviously hired another drummer so that left Patrick available upon returning to South Dakota

"In March of '95, the call came in from Joey Denison from the White Creek Band asking how I would like to try out for their band." After being out of state, Patrick didn't even know the Denison boys had formed a band. The Denison's grew up a mere mile and a half around the section from the Patrick farm near White, SD. "I guess I was pretty conservative with playing mostly classic country in which the drums were basically there to keep beat and not too much else." The variety of the White Creek band called for a little more excitement and a lot more freedom in playing.

"I feel that we have all grown since those times back in March of 1995. I greatly appreciate the opportunity White Creek has given me to spread my wings" says Patrick. The band kept it's same members since Patrick joined. This changed in February of 2002 when Dan Denison left the band to pursue other interests."We continue to have a great time entertaining people but I'm sure I speak for all of us when I say we really miss Dan'l D."

Dan Patrick and his wife Sondra have two children, Nicole and Haley. Nicole plays piano and has also taken up percussion. Dan has since taken bass guitar lessons and also started playing rhythm acoustic. Haley (4) also enjoys tinkering on a miniature guitar and paying Nicole's keyboard and bells.
