Rod Ward was born on May 20, 1967 in Valentine, Nebraska to Jim and Patty Ward. He has 2 brothers and 1 sister. Rod grew up in both Nebraska and South Dakota. He currently lives in Brookings, and owns his own cell phone business, which keeps him busy and on the road traveling most of the time. Rod has 2 children, Kalie Anne, who is 7 years old, and Carly Renee, who is 5 years old. They are both a blessing in Rod’s life, and enjoy listening to their dad’s music, while they sing songs with him and dance.

Rod recently joined White Creek, and loves music. He has previously played with other bands around the area, as well as recording some of his own songs. Rod grew up around lots of talented family members who played together at family gatherings and other functions. His Mom plays guitar and has sang since an early age. His grandpa also has played guitar for many years. His uncle plays several instruments including guitar and mandolin. There is nothing like seeing three generations playing and singing together.

Rod has loved music since the day he was born. He is self taught, which put his family through several years of listening agony. Now his family likes to see him whenever he plays, and often make requests for him to sing.

Rod also loves fishing. He rarely goes anywhere without his gear. Luckily there are a lot of areas here in South Dakota where he can fish, and keep on trying to catch that record breaker.

Joining White Creek has done good things for Rod, and he has brought good things to the band, including his talent, his passion for music, and his drive to make it in the music business.
